Introduction to Medicare: Everything You Need to Know

Medicare can seem complex at first, but understanding its basics can greatly help you make informed decisions about your healthcare coverage. We're here to make that process simpler for you.

Medicare is a federal health insurance program designed primarily for people aged 65 and older, though it also covers certain younger individuals with disabilities and those with End-Stage Renal Disease.

The program is divided into several parts that provide different types of coverage:

  • Part A (Hospital Insurance): Covers inpatient hospital stays, care in a skilled nursing facility, hospice care, and some home health care.
  • Part B (Medical Insurance): Covers certain doctors' services, outpatient care, medical supplies, and preventive services.
  • Part C (Medicare Advantage Plans): These are plans offered by private companies that contract with Medicare. They provide all your Part A and Part B benefits and often include additional services like vision, dental, and prescription drugs.
  • Part D (Prescription Drug Coverage): Adds prescription drug coverage to Original Medicare and some Medicare Cost Plans.

If you are new to Medicare or considering making adjustments to your current plan, investing time to understand these components can lead to more effective and comprehensive health coverage.
